I am widowed, and I need hope.
A Note From Sharon
A friend of mine whose wife died after 60 years of marriage told me that during those last two years, she didn’t even know him. Every day, he would go to the hospital, sit, and hold her hand. He thought, “Nothing could be worse than this.”
Then she died, and he didn’t even have a hand to hold.
I don’t know personally what it is like to bury a spouse. My many friends who are widowed talk of the finality of it…the pain that comes when there is absolutely nothing you can do.
I have been privileged to learn from the many widows and widowers who attend our grief recovery program. They show me that they can learn to cherish the memory and embrace life again.
